About the Highmead project
A stunning new build set into the hillside with views overlooking Golden Cap on the West Dorset coast. One of our standout design and build projects in collaboration with our in-house design team NDM Collins Architects.
The existing property was demolished, and a large chunk of the hillside was excavated to make way for a new raft slab foundation. A further cut into the landscape made space for a double garage at the first-floor level. From there; easy level access to the first-floor living quarters.
Open plan kitchen/dining/living space extends out onto the wrap-around balcony making the most of the epic views of the Atlantic.
A double-height atrium in the centre of the building gives views from the living space down onto the owner's piano and space for private small concerts.
Other features include an indoor resistance swimming pool, cinema room, infrared sauna and gym space.
We installed underfloor heating throughout and paired it with an air source heat pump. This combined with good insulation, an excellent air tightness result and a heat recovery unit linked to the pool extraction system, makes for a home which is both beautiful and energy efficient.
