Directors
Company Founder - Director
Carl Northcott
Carl, a long-term East Devon resident, started in the building trade in 1986 and founded Northcott Building Contractors in 1990, primarily sub-contracting to larger firms, building everything from driveways and patios to small extensions and even St. Michael’s Church roof in Beer.
Eventually, Carl built his first house, start-to-finish, in 1993, completing each trade himself. Over the last 30 years, his personal portfolio has grown with increasingly more complex projects managing builds across multiple sites. Now office-based, Carl manages and advises his team alongside the other NBC managers, but his wealth of knowledge and experience is at the heart of the business, and there is little he hasn’t built!
Owner / Director – Project Manager
Tom Pook
Tom obtained a 1st Class BSc Hons Degree in Construction Project Management from Oxford Brookes University in 2016. He gained site management experience on No. 3 and 4, St Pancras Square, London before making the permanent move back to Devon. Growing up in Beer, Devon, now living in Bridport, Dorset, the NBC working radius is right in the middle of his local knowledge base.
Tom is passionate about new construction technologies, eco building and energy-efficient homes and has a long career in project management ahead of him.
Director – Accounts Manager
Kelly Northcott
Kelly completed her accounting course in 2017 and has since provided financial management support to a variety of local businesses ranging from construction and trade to a public house. In her role as Director & Accounts Manager at Northcott Building Contractors Ltd, Kelly is responsible for invoicing, financial reporting and business accounts management.
Outside of work, Kelly enjoys keeping fit running, walking, and cycling, and is also a retained firefighter.
Site Foremen & Associate Directors
Rob Widger & John Anning
Rob and John are our trusted foreman holding the reigns across our sites. Both are experts in their respective trades.
Rob worked under various carpenters, learning his trade inside and out before joining NBC. He was quickly promoted to carpenter's foreman due to his keen eye for detail and quality workmanship. He orchestrates work alongside Tom and Carl for the 6+ other carpenters as well as the various other trades entering his sites.
John Anning is a well-known local tradesman, perfecting his trade for 25 years. He can turn his hand to all aspects of masonry including stonework, conservation repairs and rendering. He manages his team of 6+ brickies across all our sites from groundworks and blockwork structures to patios and landscaping on completion.
