At NBC, carving houses into hillsides with substantial retaining walls has become something of a hallmark for us, and this project is no exception. This stunning home features British larch-clad oak A-frames that frame a vast glazed frontage, offering breathtaking views down the Dorset coast.
The elegant oak frame rests atop a traditional stone-faced ground floor, crafted from locally sourced materials to seamlessly blend with the natural surroundings. The property is exceptionally energy-efficient, with underfloor heating installed on every level, ensuring comfort year-round.
Designed as a replacement dwelling, this modern home reflects the client’s desire for a contemporary aesthetic while maintaining a natural palette of materials. The project was made even more special by its unique location – a simple relocation across the client’s garden, where the new build perfectly complements its hillside setting.
